Warrenpoint, "where the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea"
Warrenpoint, on the shores of Carlingford Lough, is known as the gateway to the Mourne Mountains with views of the Cooley mountains across the lough. This seaside town is known for its neat Victorian terraces, public green spaces and seaside activities.
The town's park is 111 years old and has recently been restored with £1 million upgrade and has tennis courts, gardens, a large playground, and an Edwardian pavilion and bandstand.
The town is also known for The Maiden of The Mournes festival, Blues on the Bay music festival and the nearby Narrow Water Castle which dates from 1660's. Warrenpoint is surrounded by many beautiful coastal towns and villages - from the scenic village of Rostrevor, to bustling Newcastle and across the lough to the medieval village of Carlingford, accessible by coast road or ferry. In Rostrevor, 4 miles from Warrenpoint, the annual July Fiddlers Green Music festival offers a celebration of Irish music and culture with an international flavour.

Silent Valley mountain Park is located 30 minutes away and is within the Mourne area of outstanding natural beauty. Slieve Gullion Forest Park is situated a few miles outside Newry.
